A fitness center before it gets a workout

We all know we should exercise regularly. Some of us love it and some of us hate it; I personally have a love/hate relationship with it but always feel better when I do and I want to be able to keep doing the activities I love…so I exercise.  Kingston Fitness is undergoing a much needed remodel to add functional space and update its look that is nearly completed. I was hired to develop a concept for the interior colors during the remodel before the entire space was to be repainted and new floorings installed. This provided an opportunity to rethink what kind of statement Kingston Fitness would like to make about itself and I worked with the general manager to determine how that would translate into the colors used. I use color psychology as a foundation for my color designs because we are so innately hard-wired to respond to colors in a certain way. I can find out much more about what color families to recommend by asking how you want to ‘feel’ in a space than by asking what colors you like or dislike. I have developed a simple evaluation questionnaire which takes only a few minutes to fill out and gets to the heart of  the information I need. Once I had that information I was able to present a color palette they loved and I will soon be able to show the completed results. In the meantime, you can see the ‘before’ photos of what it used to look like, do you notice every wall is a different color?
