An American Foursquare facelift

Although this lovely old home built in 1906 has had some remodeling done over its life that altered the front porch typical of the period, it is indeed an American Foursquare house. The owners have lovingly maintained it and it is as charming inside as it is out. When they wanted to repaint it, I helped them choose colors for the exterior and it fits nicely into the eclectic houses on the edge of the Whitman College campus in the Walla Walla Valley. The owner loves colorful flowers, so the choice of a neutral body color for the house allows lots of color on the porches and is still not overbearing.

  1. Love it — and the punch of orange is fun. I was just talking to someone yesterday about how hard it is to pick a color to paint your home. I told them that with Sandy Wenberg, you make the choice you wanted and know it’s going to be right.
