The Asian Studies House on the Whitman College campus is now completed and the students have moved in! The transformation of this house is fairly dramatic and was very fun to do. The gloss black chimney and doors are influenced by Chinese black lacquered furniture and the chimney is a strong focal point for the front of the house supported by the cheerful Chinese red gable end. The ‘bamboo’ influenced green color has a fair amount of gold in it and it looks more predominantly green or gold depending on the exposure and the time of day. It looks more gold in full sun and greener in the shadows, making it a very interesting color to watch. Here are the promised pictures of the completed job so you can take a look!
