Here is a house the painting contractor says is a real head turner! It is situated on the Whitman College campus and is home to Asian Studies students. These ‘interest’ houses as the college refers to them are meant to reflect something of the use of the house and can have a bit of whimsy so I took advantage of that to select a green evocative of bamboo for the body of the house, bright Chinese red for the gable ends and glossy black for the chimney! The painter says drivers literally stop to look at it and some even return on subsequent days to see what colors will go up next. I really had fun with this job and the painters are enjoying the reaction too! This is still a work in progress, but take a look at a few pictures taken before and during the transformation. Not to worry, I’ll show you how it turns out when it’s completed.
